What you are preparing for

Module 1 and Module 2 explained.

Both modules must be passed to gain your initial Driver CPC qualification. Understanding what each test involves helps you target your revision more effectively.

1

Module 1 — Theory test

Multiple choice · Hazard perception

Module 1 is a computer-based theory test. You answer multiple choice questions drawn from the Highway Code, vehicle safety, driver regulations, and professional driving standards. There is also a hazard perception section using video clips.

100 multiple choice questions covering loading, tachographs, vehicle safety, road law, and the environment
Hazard perception tests using video footage of real road situations
A minimum pass mark applies to both the multiple choice and hazard perception sections — both must be passed in the same sitting
Separate versions available for LGV (Category C) and PCV (Category D)

Module 2 — Case study test

Scenario-based · Practical reasoning

Module 2 presents a detailed written scenario based in a professional driving context — a transport manager, a logistics situation, or a driving incident. A series of questions test your understanding of driver responsibilities and regulations as applied to that scenario.

Scenario-based questions requiring applied knowledge rather than simple recall
Tests your understanding of driver responsibilities, transport law, and professional conduct
Questions are linked — understanding the opening scenario thoroughly is essential

Common questions

Revision support — questions answered.

What is the difference between Module 1 & 2 and periodic Driver CPC?

Module 1 and 2 are part of the initial Driver CPC qualification — tests you pass once to gain your professional driving licence. Periodic Driver CPC is the ongoing 35-hour training required every five years to maintain that licence once you have it. This page covers initial qualification revision only. For periodic CPC, use the booking page.

Do I need to pass both modules to drive professionally?

Yes. Both Module 1 and Module 2 must be passed as part of gaining the initial Driver CPC qualification. You cannot drive professionally on a Category C (LGV) or Category D (PCV) licence without completing the full initial qualification, which includes both theory tests as well as the practical driving tests.

Can I access DTS Anytime on my phone or tablet?

Yes. DTS Anytime is a browser-based platform accessible from desktop, tablet, and mobile devices. This means you can revise between shifts, on your commute, or at any time — you do not need to attend a classroom or download any software.

How long does access to DTS Anytime last?

Access duration depends on the package selected at registration. Contact us or check the DTS Anytime registration page for current access period details before registering if this is important to your planning.

What is the myCPC reseller link and why does it matter?

The registration link on this page connects your DTS Anytime account through the myCPC reseller arrangement. Using it ensures your registration is correctly associated and that any myCPC support arrangements apply. If you register directly through DTS Anytime without using this link, the reseller connection may not be established.

I have already passed Module 1. Can I only get Module 2 access?

Yes — Module 2 only access is available. Select that option when you register. If you are unsure which tests you still need to pass, check your DVSA record or contact us before registering.
